Araldica - Sound-based Motion Toolkit
1. From classical heraldry to a dynamic brand language
- Reinterpreting the colors, patterns, division lines, and symbols of medieval coats of arms as the basic grammar of a motion system
- Beginning with a studio co-brief in January 2026, we experimented together with traditional symbols and new production methods
- The graphic- and rhythm-centered video made with Cavalry was screened on the projection mapping screen at OFFF Barcelona
- Rather than remaining at decorative motifs, it expands into repeatable rules in which color, rhythm, and form respond
2. Generative tools that turn sound into images
- The rhythm, genre, and length of a track control the width, height, and rotation of lines
- It automatically generates different animation for each song without manual keyframes
- Even when the input changes, it maintains a consistent impression within Araldica’s rules for color and form
- Podcast mode visualizes auditory information with circular graphics whose colors change depending on the speaker
3. Generative tools that turn images into sound
- By connecting TouchDesigner and Ableton, it converts the colors of video into sound in real time
- The screen is divided into four vertical columns, and each column is connected to one octave
- The scanner maps the colors it passes over to notes and plays them with the selected instrument
- Rather than pre-composed music, the video generates the melody and is varied in Zen, Techno, and Heraldic modes
4. A motion toolkit that expands from a single source
- The same system is applied from playlist covers and track artwork to in-app visuals, video, and projection mapping
- Even if the results differ by format, the relationship between color, rhythm, and form is maintained
- The bidirectional structure that connects sound to image and image to sound creates both consistency and flexibility
- This is a case that elevates a strong classical theme into a dynamically operable brand system.
